Reflection Paper

At the end of last semester, I was wondering what the course I should take and which kind of lecture is more suitable for me. After talking with my classmates, we decided to choose the class called CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning). Why we select this class? That is because of this course matches our major and it is useful to us, we just decided to come to CALL.
When the course is beginning, I have no idea what the lecture will talk about, so I do not have much interested to this class. After the class begin some time, I find that this class gives us a lot of information about how to learning English on the internet. For example, we can search the meaning of words on the particular websites or we can also practice our listening and reading for free.
The most impress me is the website called VoiceTube, it is an affiliated website of Youtube. It provides videos, subtitle, explaining of words and tests about those video. Also, it provides music videos so that we can learn English when we listen to the music. We can stop it when we do not listen cleanly. Moreover, it also have application in Android and IOS system, we can learn English more easily and convenience. Watching the video we are taking the transportation, or when we are rest our self, we can practice our English at the same time by using VoiceTube.
I also want to suggest the website called Oxford Dictionary. It is a website provides the explaining of words or phrases; it gives some example sentence as well. Why I want to recommend this website? That is because the example sentence and definition of the words is easy to understand. It also provides the related words form and words to let you make a clear distinction.
Learning English has many types of way on the Internet, we can give every way a try, and we may find some way the most suitable to our self. I believe I can find the way is more suitable for learning English by this course. I am appreciated our teacher who teaches us a lot of knowledge for learning English. Thank you.

#7 MIT OpenCourseWare

MIT Open Courseware is a very useful website because it provides many kinds of lectures for free. We can use our free time to search the topic that we are interested in, and watch the video online. Since the MIT Open Courseware is made by the MIT, most of the classes are beneficial for those who work or study in industry. When you use these programs at home, it seems that you are taking the real lectures in the classroom there. MIT also sets an example for other open courses.

#6 TED Talks

The reason I like this TED video is that the speaker tells us five ways to kill our dreams. And she uses different style to makes people have more interested to this speech. From this video, I can learn to avoid destroying my dreams, and know how to keep pursuing my dreams.

According to this statement following below, we can kill our dreams.
One, believe in overnight success.
Second, believe someone else has the answers for you.
Third, decide to settle when growth is guaranteed.
Forth, believe the fault is someone else's

Five, believe that the only things that matter are the dreams themselves.

#5 My Growing Process

High school

In my high school, I started to experience the pressure of school work. For me, it seemed that many of the classmates are better than me in study. This really upset me because I used to get good grades in my junior high school. What’s more, as ome of the courses were more specialized, I spent more time on my studies and spared no efforts focusing on all subjects.

#4 The expressions I learn from Steve Job's address

1. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

2. Stay hungry. Stay foolish.

3. Don’t lose faith. I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did

4. You have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something-your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.

5. You can’t connect the dots looking forward. You can only connect them looking backwards, so you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future

I think ESL Podcast is a good site for learning English, because it provides listening and reading for free. Many sites that I used to use did not provide listening. I think it can provide some tests about reading and listening, it can let users understand more about the point in the reading.

#2 Dictionary

Disruption (N.) 打斷
Definition: forcible separation or division into parts.

The accident on the main road through town is causing widespread disruption for motorists.

Correspondingly (Adv.) 相應的
Definition: to be in agreement or conformity (often followed by with or to)

It has fewer problems and correspondingly requires less maintenance.

Preventive (Adj.) 預防的
Definition: designed to keep something undesirable.

In the past 10 years, preventive measures have radically reduced levels of tooth decay in children.

Reinforce (V.) 加強
Definition: strengthen or support (an object or substance)

Various actions of the leaders so reinforced fears and suspicions that war became unavoidable

Psychological心理的;心理學的心理問題
Definition: Of, affecting, or arising in the mind; related to the mental and emotional state

It was concluded that her pain was psychological.

I prefer to use Oxford Dictionary. Because the example sentence is easy to understand. It also provides the related words form and words to let you make a clear distinction.
